What to Know About Topps’ 2025 Disney Baseball Cards Release

Topps just dropped something unique. Their 2025 Disney baseball cards release, featuring Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck in official MLB uniforms, is now available. Released on September 24, it’s the first time these iconic characters have suited up for America’s pastime in a Topps set.

While the base set celebrates everything from Elsa to Captain Jack Sparrow, it’s the baseball-inspired chase cards that have caught my eye (duh). Let’s break down what makes this release special and what you need to know before ripping packs.

Topps 2025 Disney Baseball Cards: Release Details & What’s Inside

The 2025 Topps Chrome Disney set features a 200-card base set spanning the entire Disney and Pixar universe. But the real story here is those baseball cards tucked inside, mentioned by Macy Brown of the Disney Parks Blog

These are the only baseball-themed cards in the entire set, making them genuine chase cards for both Disney collectors and baseball enthusiasts. Mickey, Goofy, and Donald aren’t just wearing generic uniforms either – they’re representing all 30 MLB teams. The distribution is strategic: Mickey Mouse covers the AL and NL West divisions, Goofy takes the AL and NL East, and Donald Duck handles the AL and NL Central.

It’ll get even more interesting because Topps is planning a second wave featuring away jerseys. So, if you’re chasing your favorite team’s card, you’ve got two shots to make it happen. The cards use Topps’ signature Chrome technology, giving them a premium reflective finish that makes modern cards pop.

The Rarest Pulls: Sketch Cards and Autos Worth Chasing

The 2025 Topps Chrome Disney set includes one-of-one sketch cards. We’re talking about hand-drawn, artist-signed pieces that are essentially original artwork in trading card form. Pull one, and you’ve got something nobody else in the world has.

The autos are equally exciting. Topps secured signatures from Disney and Pixar voice actors, as well as live-action stars from other Disney properties. Although specific odds weren’t disclosed in the official announcement, autos in premium Topps Chrome products typically fall at very limited ratios.

Considering this is a Disney crossover with built-in nostalgia appeal, the secondary market prices for them could be pretty high.

Beyond the sketch cards and autos, the set features multiple insert categories, including “Iconic Moments,” Anniversary Cards, “Super Strength,” and Future Stars parallels. Each brings something different to the table, but those Mickey and Friends baseball cards remain the crown jewels of this particular release.

Disney and Topps: A History of Collectible Crossovers

This isn’t Topps’ first rodeo with Disney, but it might be their most ambitious. The collab brings together Disney’s storytelling legacy and Topps’ history as baseball’s premier card manufacturer for 70-plus years.

Previous Disney card releases from Topps focused on character-driven content without specific sports themes. This baseball drop is a new direction that acknowledges how nostalgia sells, especially when you combine it from multiple sources. You’re getting childhood Disney memories wrapped in baseball tradition, all packaged with modern Chrome technology.

The timing makes sense, too. Baseball card collecting has experienced a massive resurgence since 2020, and Disney’s multi-generational appeal creates a perfect opportunity for crossover interest.

What This Means for Collectors and the Hobby

Topps is actively expanding who participates in card collecting by creating entry points that don’t require a deep level of baseball knowledge. A Disney fan might buy their first pack of cards because they want Elsa, discover those Mickey baseball cards, and suddenly they’re curious about what makes certain pulls valuable.

Serious collectors are probably wondering if these cards will hold long-term value. That’ll likely depend on production numbers and sustained demand, neither of which we know yet. However, crossover cards typically perform well when both properties involved maintain cultural relevance. Disney and MLB certainly aren’t going anywhere.

The 2025 Topps Chrome Disney set is available now at major retailers and through Topps’ website. Whether you’re chasing that one-of-one sketch card or a specific team, this release delivers something fresh to the hobby.
