After the excitement around Topps’ 75th anniversary this past spring, they’re about to release the 30th anniversary edition of Bowman Chrome with the 2026 Bowman Chrome Baseball set, coming out this week.
All the things we love about the brand will be included, and the details recently provided by Topps Ripped show they’ve taken this anniversary release seriously. Before you can get your hands on any packs, check out some of the details regarding base sets, parallels, and variations to chase, along with everything else that’s made Bowman Chrome a brand collectors have gotten excited about each year for the past three decades.

The Basics Behind 2026 Bowman Chrome Baseball
If you haven’t already, put a big circle on your calendar for September 9, which is the official release date for 2026 Bowman Chrome Baseball.
The anchor of this set is what people familiar with Bowman Chrome cards know and love. It’s a 100-card Base Chrome set built around established MLB stars and rookies, paired with a separate 100-card Chrome Prospects checklist. That second checklist is especially notable because it’s the Chrome debut for this year’s 1st Bowman class, but more on that in a bit.
Boxes will follow the standard Bowman Chrome distribution once release day arrives, landing at hobby shops and major online retailers. If you haven’t already, keep an eye on your usual pre-order channels for exact listings.
Meet the 2026 1st Bowman Class
This is the real headline of the release. The 100-card Chrome Prospects checklist is built entirely around 1st Bowman rookies making their Chrome debut. Giants infielder Luis Hernandez (San Francisco’s second-best prospect, according to MLB.com) headlines the group, shown off in a rainbow Refractor parallel that looks quite saucy.
Meanwhile, the Phillies’ no. 3 prospect, outfielder Francisco Renteria, gets the on-card auto treatment, appearing on the gold-toned signature panel design that runs through the Chrome Prospect Auto checklist. I love many of the cards that have been showcased ahead of the release, but this style (which you can see above) is probably my favorite. I mean, just look at that thing! It’s beautiful.
Mets shortstop Wandy Asigen (sixth-best prospect in New York’s system) goes a step further with the International Refractor Auto. It’s numbered to just five copies and swaps in a scene from the player’s home country. Asigen is displayed in front of a coastal backdrop of the Dominican Republic.
Parallels, Autographs, and Cards Worth Chasing
Beyond the 1st Bowman spotlight, refractors run through both the Base Chrome and Chrome Prospects checklists, giving collectors the typical parallel ladder to climb card by card.
The 2026 Bowman Chrome Baseball release also features several popular subsets and adds a couple of new ones. The Chrome Prospect PackFractor Variation is back with a design that resembles a torn-open 1989 Bowman wax pack. To keep the symmetry alive (which I’m always a fan of), every base PackFractor has a matching print run of 89.
Bowman Spotlights puts our full attention on the player, with one spotlighting Blue Jays slugger (and new Toronto rookie home run king) Kazuma Okamoto. There are also Crystallized sets, featuring players against a crystal backdrop, and Final Draft leans into graffiti-inspired art.
Last, but most certainly not least, there are WBC Flag Variations, which I think look very fresh, as well as a new auto subset called “Across the Seams.” Unsurprisingly, Shohei Ohtani’s mere inclusion is enough to headline it.
