Adley Rutschman Home Run Derby 2023 Tracker

There’s been a lot of pressure on Adley Rutschman since the Orioles drafted him out of Oregon State University. He was selected number 1 overall in 2019 and has been viewed as a crucial building block for what was a rebuilding Baltimore club. Everything has worked out in spades as the second-year catcher is heading to his first All-Star Game. He’ll also be doing the Home Run Derby, so we’ll be following along with our Adley Rutschman Home Run Derby 2023 Tracker.

Round 1 vs. Luis Robert: 27 Home Runs

Rutschman started his round off hot from the left side of the plate and then wowed everyone by hitting a homer on all but one of the seven pitches tossed his way during bonus time. From the right side of the plate. Here’s the performance:

While 27 homers in Round 1 is more than “respectable”, which he said to ESPN’s Buster Olney in the immediate aftermath, it wasn’t enough to advance. That’s because Luis Robert went bananas toward the end of his round and finished with 28.
