Which of These 4 Shohei Ohtani Dodgers Cards Is Your Favorite?

There are a lot of Shohei Ohtani Dodgers cards out in the wild. And since he’s signed with Los Angeles through 2033 (and probably will never leave the organization), there’ll be plenty more made in the future.

But which one is your favorite right now?

From founding the 50-homer, 50-steal club in 2024 to slugging another 50 dingers while striking out 50-plus as a pitcher in 2025, we’re watching history unfold in real-time, folks. This is the kind of stuff I thought was just reserved for video games.

Sports Illustrated’s Brian Hough recently highlighted some of Ohtani’s standout cards since landing with Los Angeles ahead of the 2024 season. Let’s get a quick look at them before I pick out my favorite.

Which of These Shohei Ohtani Dodgers Cards Do You Like?

Here are the four Ohtani Dodgers cards Hough put the spotlight on:

2024 Topps Now Shohei Ohtani: Ohtani’s historic 50-50 season and becoming the first player ever to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a season unsurprisingly became a Topps Now card.

2023 Topps Now Offseason Shohei Ohtani: This marked his offseason signing with the Dodgers in 2023 after landing a 10-year, $700 million deal.

Why the 2024 Topps Chrome Sapphire Deserves Your Attention

The 2024 Topps Chrome Sapphire is my favorite of these four, and it stands out for those seeking an accessible entry point. It’s not only one of the earliest official releases of Ohtani as a Dodger, but the blue Sapphire border just works perfectly here.

The photo also captures Ohtani’s iconic swing, which has become as recognizable as any in baseball. From an investment perspective, these first-year-with-new-team cards historically appreciate well when the player finds success. And based on what’s happened for the two-way superstar since landing in Hollywood — which includes two World Series titles and tons of personal accolades — it’s safe to say things are going just fine.

The numbered parallels command serious premiums (especially the Orange /25 and Red /5 versions), while the Superfractor 1/1 would be auction-house material. Even the base version maintains solid value, typically trading between $40-80 according to recent market data, with gem mint examples selling for more than $400 on eBay in October.

Other Elite Shohei Ohtani Cards Making Headlines

Beyond these four Dodgers releases, Ohtani’s cardboard empire includes jaw-dropping pieces showcasing his market dominance. That’ll happen when there are more than 22,000 cards produced of you since your MLB debut.

His 2024 Topps Dynasty 50/50 Auto Relic 1/1 fetched $1,067,500 at Heritage Auctions. This card contains an actual MLB logo patch from the pants Ohtani wore during his milestone 50-50 game, plus his signature in gold ink. It wasn’t even a rookie card, but it sold for more than double his previous record of $533,140.

Being the first to accomplish specific milestones has its perks in the hobby, ya know.

Even more recently, a 1/1 Gold Logoman Patch Auto featuring both Ohtani and Aaron Judge was pulled from 2025 Topps Chrome Baseball. This dual-signature card featuring both 2024 MVPs is being discussed as potentially cracking seven figures.

The Future Value Trajectory for Shohei Ohtani Dodgers Cards

Multiple factors suggest Ohtani’s Dodgers cards will continue climbing well into the future. He keeps piling up MVP Awards—his 2024 NL MVP was his third overall and second consecutive. He’ll be looking for a three-peat in 2025 after recently being named a finalist for the honor again.

Ohtani’s global appeal also plays a huge role. His presence has transformed the Dodgers into an international phenomenon, with viewership skyrocketing across North America and Japan. This expanded collector base creates sustained demand that has no signs of ever slowing down.

The scarcity factor works in collectors’ favor, too. The Murakami Tokyo Series cards feature /199, /150, /99, /75, /50, /25, /10, /5, and 1/1 parallels, creating natural scarcity tiers. His $700 million contract made headlines, while his 50-50 achievement rewrote record books, and his World Series appearances for a big-market team keep him in the spotlight easily. Each headline becomes another catalyst for card values.
