2025 MLB MVP baseball cards

What to Know About Topps’ 2025 MLB MVP Baseball Cards

Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge recently made history by becoming the first pair of players to win back-to-back MVP awards at the same time. And unsurprisingly, Topps is aiming to capitalize on this moment as much as possible.

The card company has rolled out an impressive lineup of limited-edition 2025 MLB MVP baseball cards across multiple releases, providing plenty of chances to chase. From premium encased cards to special commemorative sets, there’s something for everyone.

The 2025 MLB MVP Baseball Cards You Need to Know About

Topps exclusive online release features five encased cards per box, with each one numbered to 99 copies or fewer. It’s also worth noting that each box guarantees one hit card numbered to 75 or less. This hit could be an auto, game-used relic, or auto relic card. Ohtani gets 29 total cards, Judge gets 29 cards, and there’s one dual-player card bringing them together.

But the real chase cards are the ultra-premium hits. Dual autos featuring both players are limited to just 10 copies or fewer. The product initially sold for around $2,000 per box during presales in November, though the actual ship date isn’t until February 2026.

What really caught my eye is the “Welcome to the Club” subset, honoring Judge’s entry into baseball’s three-time MVP club. The right-handed slugger is just the 13th player to win three MVP awards. He’s also the fourth Yankee to accomplish the feat, joining Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, and Joe DiMaggio.

The “Welcome to the Club” Dual Autos series features one-of-one cards pairing Judge with other members of the elite MVP club. These cards include signed pairings with every member of this exclusive fraternity.

Shohei Ohtani’s ‘The Game’ Commemorative Cards

While Judge gets the three-time MVP treatment, Ohtani has his own interesting subset that’s equally as cool. “The Game” relic cards commemorate one of the most dominant performances in postseason history — his legendary NLCS Game 4 against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Ohtani not only joined an exclusive group of players who have hit three homers in a postseason game, but he also struck out 10 hitters as the Dodgers’ starting pitcher. It was truly a one-of-a-kind performance…and now there are cards featuring actual game-used memorabilia from that historic night.

The collection includes a special auto quad relic card (limited to one-of-one) that contains game-used baseball and bases from his outrageous performance. But the crown jewel is a Topps Dynasty Black one-of-one card featuring Ohtani’s gold-ink signature paired with a game-worn MLB Logoman patch from his jersey.

How These Cards Fit Into Topps’ 2025 Releases

Beyond the dedicated MVP Collection, both players are featured prominently across Topps’ entire 2025 lineup. According to Topps, MVP cards appear in Topps NOW, Series 1, Series 2, and Diamond Icons releases. They’ve launched an MVP Buyback program, where they’re purchasing 2025 Topps Chrome base cards, refractors, and certain numbered parallels of both Ohtani and Judge from collectors in exchange for store credit.

We also can’t forget that Ohtani already had his own dedicated 2025 Topps Welcome to the Club 3X MVP set released earlier this year. That product featured Ohtani alongside Trout, Albert Pujols, and Alex Rodriguez, with dual autos and cut signatures similar to what we see in Judge’s subset.

With Ohtani winning his fourth MVP (and second straight) and Judge capturing his third (also back-to-back), these cards are preserving a legacy. Whether you’re chasing the high-end one-of-ones or just want a numbered base card from the MVP Collection, there’s never been a better time to invest in two generational talents.
