The 2025 Topps Baseball Gilded Collection is introducing something special for high-end collectors: ultra-rare ‘Statuesque’ inserts that honor some of baseball’s most legendary figures.
Beckett.com’s Andrew Harner reports that this release is set to drop on February 13. There is plenty more in this collection to get excited about, but these Statuesque inserts have really caught my eye — especially since each card is a true one-of-one — so we’re going to talk about them in more detail.

5 Legends Featured in 2025 Topps Gilded Statuesque Inserts

The 2025 Topps Baseball Gilded Collection Statuesque checklist puts the spotlight on five MLB icons. You can see the list below, along with a chance to scroll through the images in the above Instagram post:
- Jackie Robinson (SQ-1) – Brooklyn Dodgers
- Roberto Clemente (SQ-2) – Pittsburgh Pirates
- Babe Ruth (SQ-3)– New York Yankees
- Ernie Banks (SQ-4) – Chicago Cubs
- Ted Williams (SQ-5) – Boston Red Sox
These cards aren’t just your standard inserts because there’s a connection to the physical monuments that honor these dudes. Each statue shows a franchise’s commitment to remembering greatness, and Topps has translated that permanence into cardboard form.
BaseballCardPedia notes that Black Variation parallels are also available, which adds another layer to the chase. They’re also one-of-ones, so just 10 total Statuesque cards will exist across both versions.
Ted Williams: The Splendid Splinter Lives On
The Ted Williams Statuesque card connects to the bronze statue outside Fenway Park, which shows the Splendid Splinter giving his hat to a child. It was unveiled in April 2004, which was the same year Boston won its first World Series title since 1918.
Williams last appeared in a big-league game in 1960, but his impact on the game is still being felt today. The Hall of Famer was a 19-time All-Star, two-time MVP Award winner, two-time Triple Crown winner, and a six-time batting champion. He finished his career with an impressive .344/.482/.634 line to go along with 521 home runs, 525 doubles, 1,839 RBI, and 1,798 runs scored.
And while he had himself a full career, we can still ask “What if?” because Teddy Ballgame missed nearly five full seasons due to military service.
As if that all wasn’t already enough, he’s also the last player to hit .400 in a single season, finishing the 1941 campaign with a .406 average. Having his legacy represented as a one-of-one insert feels appropriate for someone who refused to settle for anything less than perfection at the plate.
Jackie Robinson: Breaking Barriers in Bronze and Cardboard
The Jackie Robinson Statuesque pays tribute to the statue that stands outside Dodger Stadium, which was unveiled in 2017 to mark 70 years since he broke MLB’s color barrier. There are three quotes carved into the base of the statue:
- “A life is not important except for the impact it has on other lives.”
- “I’m not concerned with your liking or disliking me… All I ask is that you respect me as a human being.”
- “There’s not an American in this country free until every one of us is free.”
These quotes seem to capture who Robinson was as a person quite well, I think. The Hall of Famer was a seven-time All-Star, as well as a Rookie of the Year and MVP Award winner. He slashed .313/.410/.477 with 141 home runs, 286 doubles, 200 steals, 761 RBI, and 972 runs scored.
But beyond his on-field impact, Robinson fundamentally helped shape baseball into the game it is today, thanks to his courage. He’s honored by having his number 42 being retired across the league, and there’s an entire day dedicated to his legacy each April 15, which signifies the anniversary of his MLB debut.
What Else is in the 2025 Topps Baseball Gilded Collection
The Gilded Collection returns with its signature gold-infused Chrome technology, featuring a 200-card base set where every card is numbered to just 99 copies, according to Topps. Collectors opening hobby boxes will have two guaranteed autos per box: one Topps Chrome Gold Auto and one Framed Auto. Each box contains two packs: the first delivers three numbered cards or inserts plus that Chrome Gold Auto, while the second pack holds the Framed Auto.
Parallels run the full spectrum, from Gold Wave and Gold Mini-Diamond through Gold RayWave and Gold Lava, down to Electroblack versions numbered to five. The Superfractor 1/1s are still the ultimate chase, but those Statuesque inserts should be on the minds of many collectors. Gold Storm inserts return with dramatic visual effects, while the Gilded Hall of Fame Plaque Autos continue the concept launched in 2022, according to Steel City Collectibles.
