The 2025 season featured a lot of interesting home run moments. But you know what it was missing? Some good old-fashioned Yordan Alvarez home run action.
After putting together four straight seasons of 30-plus homers for the Houston Astros from 2021-24, Alvarez slugged just six taters in 2025, thanks to being limited to just 48 games played. He was the hitter I missed watching the most last season, but thankfully, Air Yordan is back in business this year.
With that in mind, you knew we had to bring back the Yordan Alvarez Home Run Tracker for the 2026 season. Every time he goes deep for Houston (or another team?) this year, I’ll update this article with all the pertinent information, including the date, opponent, distance, and exit velocity.

Yordan Alvarez’s Place in Astros Home Run History
The 2026 campaign is Alvarez’s age-29 season, but he’s been making an impact at the big-league level since his 2019 American League Rookie of the Year performance as a 22-year-old. When healthy, the dude knows how to hit taters at a consistent pace.
Entering 2026, he’s already racked up five seasons of at least 27 home runs, with four of those occasions going for 30-plus. That kind of consistency had the left-handed slugger at 170 career homers heading into this season.
That was good for eighth on Houston’s all-time list, and as of this writing, he’s already leapfrogged George Springer for seventh place. Alvarez will need to record a 40-homer performance to crack the very top of the Astros’ single-season leaderboard, but what he accomplished in 2022 (37 homers) and 2024 (35 homers) is already among the top-20 power performances in franchise history.
Yordan Alvarez Home Run History By Season
As mentioned previously, Alvarez made landfall in the big leagues in 2019. Here’s a look at his yearly home run production since joining the Astros:
- 2019: 27
- 2020: 1
- 2021: 33
- 2022: 37
- 2023: 31
- 2024: 35
- 2025: 6
Before the season started, FanGraphs’ ZiPS projections had him hitting just 24 homers for the Astros in 2026. But it looks like he’ll easily surpass that since he’s reached double digits before the calendar flipped to May. How many homers do you think he’ll hit this year?
