11 Incredible Stats From Pete Crow-Armstrong’s Impressive 2026 Season

The Chicago Cubs are heading back to the postseason. It’s the first time they’ve registered consecutive years with trips to October since they did it four years in a row between 2015 and 2018.

And, honestly… where would this club be without center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong’s outrageous season? 

We’ll never know. PCA looked like a legitimate National League MVP Award contender throughout the start of the 2025 season, but his performance faded throughout the second half. He posted an .847 OPS before the All-Star break, but returned from the midseason breather and finished with a .634 OPS. 

He’s done the complete opposite in 2026 as he looks to knock Shohei Ohtani off his seemingly perennial NL MVP perch. Through 702 plate appearances, Crow-Armstrong is slashing .280/.371/.578 with 45 home runs, 30 doubles, 107 RBI, 118 runs scored, and 38 steals. His performance has been worth 10.4 fWAR, which easily leads all of baseball. 

At this point, it’s hard to find new ways to describe just how ridiculous a year PCA has put together on the North Side. So, I figured it’d be easier to highlight a bunch of incredible stats and facts that I found. It’s not an exhaustive list, but here are 11 cool things Crow-Armstrong has done this season.

Most Homers By a Left-Handed Hitter in Cubs History

The Cubs have been around a long time. According to Baseball Reference, the organization has been in existence since 1876. 

Entering the 2026 campaign, Billy Williams held the franchise record for the most homers by a left-handed hitter. He racked up 42 taters during the 1970 season for Chicago. That record is obviously no longer his, as it belongs to Crow-Armstrong. 

First 40-Homer Season By a Cubs Player in 21 Years

Nine different Cubs players slugged at least 40 homers in a season before the 2026 season, but it hadn’t happened since 2005 until PCA finally broke through. 

The most recent occurrence before this was by first baseman Derrek Lee, who hit 46 in 2005. 

Most Homers By a Cub at Age 24 or Younger

Cubs shortstop Ernie Banks set this record in 1955, when he slugged 44 homers for Chicago in his age-24 season. But, as pointed out by MLB.com’s Sarah Langs, PCA has knocked Mr. Cub out of the top spot for this distinction. 

First Cubs Player With Consecutive 30-30 Season

Before Crow-Armstrong made landfall in the big leagues, the only Cub to record a 30-30 season was Sammy Sosa. He did it twice, but took a year off in between occurrences (1993 and 1995). 

After punching his ticket into the club in 2025, PCA is now the first Cubs player to accomplish that feat in back-to-back years. 

Showing How Elite His Power-Speed Combo Really Is

According to Just Baseball, there are only two players in MLB this season with at least 25 homers and 35 steals: Crow-Armstrong and Fernando Tatis Jr. 

But it goes deeper than that. While PCA is eyeing the 40-40 club, he’s already one of just three players in MLB history with at least 45 homers and 35 steals in a season: 

A Distinction Within MLB’s 40-30-30 Club

As we can see from his season-long stats, PCA has produced a season with 40-plus homers, 30-plus doubles, and 30-plus steals. How rare is a performance like that? 

Pretty rare, it turns out. He’s the 10th player in MLB history to compile those counting stats in one year, but the first primary center fielder to get it done: 

This Is The Second-Best Season in Cubs History

I mentioned this before, but the Cubs have been around for a long time. It’s been more than 150 years, folks. When we use fWAR as the barometer, though, PCA’s 10.4 mark is the second-best in franchise history. 

The only performance better is Rogers Hornsby’s 1929 campaign, which resulted in 11.0 fWAR. 

1 of 7 MLB Players To Do This in a Single Game

Crow-Armstrong slugged a leadoff and walk-off homer for the Cubs on August 17 to beat the Chicago White Sox. He’s just one of seven players to accomplish that feat, and it was the first occurrence since Chris Young last did it in 2010. 

He’s Done This More Often Than Mickey Mantle

According to Marquee Sports’ Christopher Kamka, PCA has enjoyed 10 games with at least 10 total bases in his career. That’s more than Mickey Mantle, who did it eight times during his 18-year career. 

This Is What Elite Consistency Looks Like

Having the kind of season PCA has produced requires a good bit of consistency throughout at least most of the year. 

According to OptaStats’ Greg Harvey, Crow-Armstrong is the first player in MLB history to collect at least five homers, five steals, and one triple in four straight months. He’s done it each month from June through September. 

Let’s Not Forget His Insane Month of August

If we had to pick the most insane month of PCA’s season, I think it’s safe to assume most would pick August. I mean, when you do something only Willie Mays and Babe Ruth have done in the past, that’s gotta count for something, right?
