Spring has sprung, folks. MLB’s regular season is in full swing and there are some interesting baseball card releases to be excited about!
Rich Mueller of Sports Collector Daily discussed which sports card releases are happening between April 30 and May 13 in a recent article. We’ll take some time to discuss the two baseball card releases on his list: Topps Chrome Black and Bowman. Let’s get into it.

2025 Topps Chrome Black Baseball Hit Shelves on 4/30
If you’re like me and can’t resist the allure of shiny cardboard, you’re going to love what Topps is bringing with their 2025 Chrome Black Baseball release. This premium product — which dropped on April 30 — continues the tradition of dark-themed, high-end cards that have become collector favorites.
Each box contains just two packs with six cards per pack, but don’t let the low card count fool you—the here is stellar. Every pack includes one numbered parallel, and each box guarantees an encased on-card autograph, Mueller noted. That feels like serious bang for your buck.
The design stays true to the “Black” branding with stunning dark-hued backgrounds that make the chrome elements pop. Keep an eye out for special-themed inserts like “Hit the Lights” and “Nocturnal” that perfectly complement the product’s aesthetic.
According to Mueller, boxes are currently listed at $179.99, which positions this as a mid-range option for serious collectors looking for premium hits without breaking into the four-figure territory.
2025 Bowman Baseball Expected to Arrive 5/7
Mark your calendars for May 7 because that’s when the prospecting world’s favorite product hits the shelves. Bowman Baseball is back for 2025, and it’s bringing all the prospect-chasing excitement we’ve come to expect from this flagship release.
If you’re unfamiliar with Bowman, this product is the destination for collectors hunting cards of tomorrow’s superstars before they even make it to The Show. Minor leaguers dominate these packs, with many players making their cardboard debut.
The crown jewels here are the Chrome Prospect Autographs and their rainbow of numbered parallel versions. Landing one of these autos of the right prospect can be a game-changer for your collection’s value.
Hobby boxes contain 24 packs with 8 cards each, while Jumbo boxes pack a bigger punch with 12 packs of 28 cards. If you’re working with a smaller budget, blasters offer 6 packs with 12 cards each.
Mueller also noted that Topps recently dropped 2025 Bowman Mega boxes earlier this week, giving collectors multiple ways to hunt for those coveted prospect autos.
Other Upcoming Baseball Card Releases to Watch For
While Sports Collector Daily only highlighted the Chrome Black and Bowman releases, there are others that collectors should keep on their radar:
- 2025 Topps Heritage High Number – While no official release date has been announced yet, this continuation of the popular Heritage line is worth watching for. The main 2025 Topps Heritage set was released on April 23, according to Beckett and Cardlines. Based on previous release patterns, we can expect the High Number edition later this year. These sets typically feature players who didn’t make the cut in the main Heritage release, including late-season call-ups and traded players.
- Possible 2025 Panini Diamond Kings Baseball – Though not confirmed for 2025 yet, Diamond Kings has been a popular artistic-styled set in previous years. The 2022 edition was released in May 2022, according to Beckett, and featured on-card autographs and memorabilia cards with distinctive painted-style designs. The current Beckett sports card release calendar doesn’t list a 2025 edition yet, but it’s worth monitoring for collectors who appreciate the unique artistic approach.
