These 2025 Topps Chrome Baseball Cards Are Limited to 24 Copies Each

A handful of Award Winner Variation baseball cards from the 2025 Topps Chrome release in July have caught the eye of many collectors.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Michael Terry, these golden-backed cards feature 2024 MLB award winners and are limited to just 24 copies each. So, that instantly makes them chase cards.

These pieces of cardboard are special because of their scarcity and the star power they bring to the table. We’re talking about some of the biggest names in today’s game, each featured on what’s considered a premium collectible.

The Complete 2025 Topps Chrome Award Winner Lineup

Here’s the complete roster of players featured in this ultra-rare chase set:

Aaron Judge

Aaron Judge: The 2024 AL MVP put together another eye-popping campaign, slugging 58 homers with 144 RBI (both led the league). It was the third time he surpassed the 50-homer plateau in his career.

Shohei Ohtani

Shohei Ohtani: One of the most coveted players in the modern hobby, Ohtani won his third MVP Award since 2021 last season. It also helps that he founded the 50-50 club while being part of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ title-winning club.

Paul Skenes

Paul Skenes: The 2024 NL Rookie of the Year has become another phenomenon in the collecting world. His cards are consistently breaking records and setting new benchmarks for rookie premiums. The value will continue to shoot up if he can add a Cy Young to his mantle in 2025, too.

Chris Sale

Chris Sale: The veteran lefty’s 2024 NL Cy Young Award capped off a remarkable comeback season, as he led the league in wins (18), ERA (2.38), and strikeouts (225) in just 177.2 innings pitched. His limited chrome cards could be appealing to not only Atlanta Braves fans, but also Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox fans.

Tarik Skubal: Detroit’s ace earned the 2024 AL Cy Young Award by also winning the pitching triple crown in the Junior Circuit. He led the way in wins (18), ERA (2.39), and strikeouts (228). The southpaw has quickly become a favorite among collectors.

Luis Gil

Luis Gil: The 2024 AL Rookie of the Year represents excellent value potential. Rookie award winners historically see significant card appreciation over time, but he’ll have some work to do after an injury-shortened 2025.

Aaron Judge: The Hobby’s Golden Boy Gets the Golden Treatment

Judge’s inclusion feels almost inevitable given his stranglehold on the modern collecting landscape. The Yankees slugger has consistently proven he’s both a statistical unicorn (because of his incredible power) and a genuine hobby icon. His cards command respect everywhere, and it only goes up with each monster season he puts together.

His 2025 performance through 136 games (1.112 OPS with 46 homers, 100 RBI, and 118 runs scored in 605 plate appearances) just reinforces why he’s continually featured prominently in high-end card releases. Judge cards have shown plenty of staying power in the secondary market. Heck, even his base rookies have maintained strong values.

This Award Winner Variation is the perfect mix of scarcity and star power that serious collectors are constantly searching for. The golden laurel backdrop is fitting for a player who’s accumulated a lot of hardware in a short period. With only 24 copies out there in the world, this card should get plenty of attention whenever it appears.

Paul Skenes: Rookie Sensation Meets Chrome Perfection

This Skenes card is particularly intriguing because of the timing. He’s still fresh off an award-winning rookie campaign while also putting together an even more impressive sophomore performance that could land him his first career Cy Young Award.

That type of momentum has his cards consistently selling for high figures across the board. The /24 limitation on this Award Winner Variation practically guarantees it’ll be as sought-after as other Skenes cards in circulation.

Terry also hinted at additional Skenes chase opportunities within 2025 Topps Chrome, including a 1/1 Gold Logoman Auto. The right-hander’s broader presence in the set suggests Topps is well aware of his market appeal. So, they’re positioning him as a cornerstone attraction for the entire release.

Can’t say that’s not a good strategy, folks.

2025 Topps Chrome: Setting New Standards for Premium Releases

This Award Winner Variation subset is exactly what collectors love about Topps Chrome releases. It’s the perfect mix of design, elite players, and scarcity that gets the people going.

Dropping this release right in the middle of MLB’s regular season was also smart. Rather than simply recycling past awards, they’ve captured the moment when these achievements still feel relevant and exciting (especially since most of them have continued to dominate this season).

For collectors targeting the biggest names in today’s game, this Award Winner Variation set offers multiple paths to success. Whether you’re hunting the established superstars like Judge and Ohtani or betting on a rising star like Skenes, it’s hard to go wrong with hunting for any of these.
