Shohei Ohtani-Aaron Judge Topps MVP Card

Another 1-of-1 Aaron Judge-Shohei Ohtani MVP Card Released By Topps

Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge were named National League and American League MVPs, respectively, last week. They’ve each won the award in 2024 and 2025, which is the first time that both leagues have produced repeat winners.

You just had to know something special was coming for the hobby, and Topps didn’t disappoint. Shortly after the news dropped, they unveiled a commemorative 1-of-1 dual auto celebrating the moment, as noted by Bleacher Report’s Scott Polacek.

The Card That Celebrates Back-to-Back Dominance

Topps launched an on-demand trading card commemorating Ohtani and Judge as the first players in baseball history to win back-to-back MVP awards together. The base card sold for $11.99 on the Topps website during a 24-hour window, with printing determined by demand during that limited time.

But the exciting part is that one collector who ordered the card will receive a one-of-a-kind dual autographed relic card featuring game-used memorabilia from both superstars…for the same price!

That makes this potentially one of the greatest value propositions in modern card collecting. Buyers also have chances to pull randomly inserted parallels, including foil versions numbered to 50 or lower.

Aaron Judge and Ohtani Make History With Consecutive Wins

These two stars winning MVP Awards have become quite commonplace recently, and especially during the 2020s. Judge claimed his third MVP in four years with the Yankees, while Ohtani secured his second straight National League honor and fourth overall MVP trophy. He’s actually won an MVP three straight years since he took home the honor in 2023 for the Los Angeles Angels before signing with the Dodgers that winter.

Judge joins Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, and Mickey Mantle as the franchise’s only three-time MVP winners. Alongside Berra and Mantle, he’s now part of an exclusive club of Yankee greats who’ve won consecutive MVP awards. His 2025 campaign featured a career-best .331 average alongside 53 home runs and 114 RBI. Unsurprisingly, Judge also won his fifth Silver Slugger Award.

Not to be outdone, Ohtani’s win led to a few interesting tidbits. He’s the first player to win three straight MVPs since Barry Bonds won four straight from 2001-04. And since his last two victories have come in the NL, he’s the first back-to-back winner on the Senior Circuit since Albert Pujols (2008-09).

The Legendary 2024 Seasons That Started It All

Ohtani’s 2024 season rewrote the record books in the most eye-popping way possible. With a franchise record 54 home runs (a mark he broke in 2025!) and 59 steals, he became the founding member of MLB’s 50-50 club. Ohtani reached those heights during a ridiculous performance on September 19 in Miami against the Marlins, which included a 6-for-6 night with three homers, two steals, and 10 RBI.

He finished the regular season with a .310 average, 130 RBI, and 134 runs scored — all of which were career highs. Despite recovering from Tommy John surgery and playing exclusively as LA’s designated hitter, Ohtani also became the first primary DH to win an MVP award.

Judge’s 2024 campaign was equally jaw-dropping. The Yankees captain demolished 58 home runs while posting a .322 average with 144 RBI. He led all of Major League Baseball in home runs, RBI, walks, on-base percentage (.458), and OPS (1.159). Judge also became the fastest player to reach 300 career home runs, accomplishing the feat in just 955 games.

Tracking the Value of Their 2024 MVP Chase Cards

Collectors who invested in Ohtani and Judge cards from 2024 Topps Chrome releases have already seen significant returns. According to Baseball America, the 2024 Topps Chrome MVP Buyback Program offered various levels of store credit for their cards at participating retailers.

Base cards earned $20 credit, refractors commanded $40, with increasingly valuable returns for rarer parallels. Beyond the buyback program, both players’ 2025 Topps Chrome releases have generated massive interest. The dual autograph Gold Logoman Patch card featuring both MVPs from 2025 Topps Chrome already created plenty of buzz a few months ago when it was pulled.

This new commemorative release adds another layer to what’s become an exciting chase for collectors — two generational talents simultaneously dominating their leagues while constantly reaching new heights.
