New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton is entering 2024 with a new title: MLB’s active home run leader. No active player has gone deep more than Stanton, who has done it 402 times. However, he also has something to prove this year, so we’ll track all Giancarlo Stanton home runs right here.
This will work just like last year’s trackers. Every time Giancarlo slugs a ball over the wall, we’ll update this article with the date, opponent, distance, exit velocity, and a video of the homer.
Stanton has played 74-plus games 12 times since making his MLB debut in 2010. He’s never finished any of these campaigns with fewer than 22 home runs. The only time he finished with 22 was his rookie season. The right-handed hitter has surpassed the 30-homer plateau seven times, most recently in 2022 with the Yankees. What’s been troubling is the downturn in his overall offensive production over the years, though.
His first year in New York was in 2018, which resulted in a .852 OPS, 38 home runs, and 100 RBI. Those numbers have mostly gone down over the years. It came to a head in 2023 when Stanton produced a .695 OPS with 24 homers and 60 RBI in 415 trips to the plate. Does the 34-year-old have more left in the tank? Will he show it in 2024? We’ll find out and keep track of his progress along the way. While we wait for Opening Day, you can watch his 24 homers from last season here.
