While he entered the 2019 Home Run Derby with fewer than 10 MLB homers to his name, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. wowed everyone with 91 total dingers. We’ve been waiting for the man to re-enter the competition ever since. It’s finally happening this season, so we’re keeping tabs on it all with our Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Home Run Derby 2023 Tracker.

Round 1 vs. Mookie Betts: 26 Home Runs

It wasn’t the most outrageous round ever from Vlad Jr., but it was enough to get the job done and advance to the next round. Here’s a look at his matchup against Mookie:

Round 2 vs. Julio Rodriguez: 21 Home Runs

Vlad Jr. didn’t have to go bananas to get past Rodriguez and advance to the finals, and that’s exactly what he did. He tied J-Rod at 20 by the end of his three-minute round and got the walk-off he needed during his bonus time.

Home Run Derby Final vs. Randy Arozarena: 25 Home Runs

After hitting more than any player during the 2019 Home Run Derby in Cleveland and still coming up short, Vlad Jr. got his title in 2023. He just barely edged out Arozarena, who slugged 23 homers in the final. Guerrero ended up slugging 72 total homers during the event, which was second overall to Randy’s 82.

Vlad Jr. still holds the record for most dingers in a single event (91) and put together multiple jaw-dropping rounds. You can read about (and watch) those performances and more at the below links:
